OVERALL OBJECTIVES

 

Our client is currently accelerating the deployment of standard processes across its Laboratories via the OneIT 2010 program. A key aspect of the OneIT 2010 initiative is the alignment of eLIMS, the main Laboratory Information Management System in, and of other applications like EOL with the newest processes. eLIMS is a modular suite of applications that leverage a distributed database, Eurodat5, which instances share a centrally managed schema. EOL is a customer facing web site interfaced with eLIMS and Eurodat5 that allows to provide online services to select customers. Both eLIMS and EOL leverage ELF, a .Net-based framework that captures key aspects of Eurodat5 access and provides a porfolio of reusable services.

 

The main objective of this position is to help the IT Solutions Team in Luxembourg to accelerate the delivery of EOL new functions. The technologies currently being deployed for EOL development are Visual Studio 2008, ASP.Net, C#.Net, Visual Basic.Net and MS SQL Server 2008 (the latter coming as a replacement for MS SQL 2000).

 

 

THE CANDIDATE IS EXPECTED TO

  • deliver high quality EOL software by oneself and through the team (including design, code, tests, documentation),
  • promote high quality engineering of the target solutions,
  • embrace Agile practices,
  • develop working relationships within the wider IT community and with select user groups.

 

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS

  • Contribute to the design, development, troubleshooting, tests and documentation of select EOL functions, at appropriate quality levels, and timely.
  • Follow and promote group development practices and policies in order to produce EOL functions that can easily be implemented within the group.
  • Use sound software engineering practices and state-of-art development methodologies - so-called Agile - so as to ensure superior quality.
  • Create and maintain level 3 technical and operational documentation that describes program code, logic, changes, and corrections for assigned functions.
  • Provide continued level 3 support for select functions.

 

OTHER ASSIGNMENTS

  • Ensure follow-up to his Manager on a regular basis and as often as requested.
  • Acquire rapidly a working knowledge of EOL, Eurodat5 and ELF specifics. Deepen that knowledge on a continuous basis, guided by the most pressing needs of assigned functions.
  • Develop appropriate working relationships with IT and non-IT target groups. Actively support reuse and sharing within the wider ELF/EOL/eLIMS community.
  • Mentor younger colleagues on software engineering and software development.
